Mountainview Behavioral Hospital — Financial Assistance & Charity Care

Berkeley Heights, Union County, NJ

Under New Jersey law, Mountainview Behavioral Hospital must offer free or discounted care to eligible low-income and uninsured patients. Here's what the law guarantees — and how to apply.

What New Jersey law guarantees

Under New Jersey Hospital Care Payment Assistance Program (N.J.S.A. 26:2H-18.60), Mountainview Behavioral Hospital must provide FREE care to uninsured patients at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, and discounted care for patients up to 300%.

This is the legal minimum — Mountainview Behavioral Hospital may offer more generous help. The only way to know is to apply, and applying is always free.

If your qualified medical bills are more than 30% of your yearly income, New Jersey covers everything above that share in full — once per family each year, on top of the sliding-scale discount.
