National Jewish Health — Financial Assistance & Charity Care

Denver, Denver County, CO

Under Colorado law, National Jewish Health must offer discounted care to eligible low-income and uninsured patients. Here's what the law guarantees — and how to apply.

What Colorado law guarantees

Under Colorado Hospital Discounted Care law (HB21-1198, C.R.S. §25.5-3-501 et seq.), National Jewish Health must provide discounted care to uninsured patients at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level, limiting both what you are charged and your monthly payments.

This is the legal minimum — National Jewish Health may offer more generous help. The only way to know is to apply, and applying is always free.

Even if you have a bill to pay, Colorado law limits it: for households at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level, your monthly payments can't be more than 4% of your monthly income on a hospital bill, 2% on each provider's bill, or 6% across a combined bill — and after 36 monthly payments, any remaining balance is treated as paid in full.
